Ethos
At Harrytown Catholic High School, our ethos is grounded in the teachings of Jesus Christ and the values of the Catholic faith. Every child is valued, supported, and encouraged to grow spiritually, academically, and personally. We believe that education is a journey of the whole person – heart, mind, and soul – and we are proud to walk that journey with our students every day.
Our Mission at Harrytown
Strengthened by Jesus Christ and guided by the Holy Spirit, our Catholic school serves to support our young people to grow in faith and knowledge. We develop confident, resilient and aspirational young people who contribute and serve, with love and kindness, in our global community.
This Christ centred Mission guides us in building the Kingdom of God here on earth and is underpinned by our school virtues handed down to us by the Sisters of Charity of our Lady of Evron
Humility: Recognise our own limitations and value others as God’s children
Service: Live out Christ’s teachings in all we do
Unity: Work together for the Common Good
Simplicity: This is knowing what is really important in life
Charity: Give without expecting anything in return
Our Scripture
“I can do all things through him who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13
These are beautiful words of encouragement from St Paul which help us deal appropriately with any situation that we find ourselves in. In the preceding verses St Paul details what those situations have been for him. “Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” At the time of writing he is in a Roman prison unsure if he is to be executed or not, but he still has the grace to write to the church in Philippi and encourage them. The secret that he refers to is simply how he copes with the good times and the bad, that is with Jesus. We stand beside Paul and say we will not be overwhelmed when things get hard, and we will also celebrate the good times in life, with generosity for those who struggle, because Jesus strengthens us.
